Hail Storm at Marikina City
A mixture of sleet and small bits of ice about the size of corn kernels were figured from the rare occurrence.
According to an article published by GMA Network, the instance of icefall is unlikely but it’s not rare even in summer.
The report noted that sleet can be formed even on warm weather condition. Ice build up once rain falls through the air which is cold enough and can solidify the raindrops.
There are instances that ice bits become a large ball of ice or commonly known as hailstone when the sleet swept back and generates a chunk of ice.
What can you say about this?
What might trigger the icefall despite the country’s summer heat?
Do you think it might result in another calamity or natural disaster? Or it’s just timely that this phenomenon happened?
